Question Active Player Roster

their is a crappy rule in football. the NFL teams have a 53 man roster throughout the season and those guys are happy to be there. NFL rule says at a game one team can only activate 45 players to play a game not including a 3rd QB. let's say it's the Super Bowl and the team activates 45 out of 53 players and a player isn't on the 45 active list. it's a guys dream to play in the Super Bowl and it's robbed because of one rule. dont u think every man should play?

If you're going to argue the rule, at least get it right.

It's a 45-player maximum, not including a 3rd QB.

Grumpy.

It would be interesting to allow teams to use up to 53 players in a game, I'd like to see some of the different coaches working with the extra personnel - Herm for one.

Herm's got enough to worry about with the clock. The extra players would make his head explode.

It wouldn't bother him at all. He would just hire someone to manage the substitutions for him.

WHat is the thought behind that rule?? Just curious as to what year it was put in and why....what reasoning there is behind it.

Not sure when they bumped the game roster to 45, I know the third quarterback addition was around '90-'91.

Could be worse though; could be the 1920's when teams were only allowed to have 16 players. Troy would have fit in well playing both sides of the ball then.

Let everyone play, because as a paying fan I want to see the best possible entertainment product on the field when someone gets injured. Why impose artificial limits that do not add to the game?
