Default Another Casper post.

It always amazes me how the "chicken littles" can run about with their heads chopped off on the flimsiest pretext.

Currently, they are running about crying because the rookie kicker is only 3/6 in Field Goals and 6/6 for PATs; no KOR for TDs surrendered, the longest KO average in the league and a starting position for the opposition of of 21 yard line on average.

Now for most players you cannot use the preseason stats because they play against scrubs who might not make the opponent's team. But I would argue that DOES NOT APPLY to Kickers, except perhaps for blocked kicks.

There is no question of scrubs, the field is no different, the pressure for a rookie in his rookie preseason is if anything even more intense, then as a player who has made the team.

SG's preseason was 9/9 on FG and 9/9 on PATs. If you combine those stats to make a larger sample size of his work, it projects as follows 12/15 or 80% on FGs; and 15/15 or 100% on PATs.

That is what his professional background suggests and what he will probably end up at the end of the season being.

The present caterwauling is as full of significance as saying "What's wrong with Tom Brady?" His play in two games is not up to his high standards which include three SB championships and a league leading year as the highest yardage QB and another league leading year as the leading passer for TDs.

All that caterwauling lasted for all of one game. I predict that this episode of chicken littleism will last about as long.

After last week it was very difficult for "hand wringing whiners" to find fault. Thank goodness Gostkowski missed a kick.

I've also heard a lot of people still complaining about Beoli not being perfect in the free agent market the last two years, and why do they keep Hill and Sullivan on the roster.

Personnel selections, draft and free agency remains a crap shoot. The good news is that our guys are better than most are selecting players. As long as they are not perfect, fans will be satisfied being able to complain about something factual.

Umm.... the Pats have scored 11 TDs this year, and Gotti has gotten the PAT every time.
