Default Contracts need to be done with more strict rules

Rookie contracts should be made to be fully completed, meaning that if a rookie signs on the bottom line of a contract a 3,4,5 year deal and clearly sees and gets that the money he will receive he should HAVE to honor it..If any of us signed a contract for a loan, buisness transaction ect we would be liable to complete our responsibility or face getting sued or facing some severe legal action...Why is it not like that in the NFL,Where a player can simply just go a walk out on his contract demanding more money and not have to play until the 10th week to get back on the team to further his carrer elsewhere?-THATS BS! They should have to COMPLETE the contract and then do what they want,If they don't complete it (barring an injury which would prevent that),They should be banned from the NFL until they complete the last year,or two if problems are sooner than that.-The NFL rules regarding player contracts ar ea joke and a disgrace that Goodel should change,Especially a player who does not commit to the team he signed his name for and playing there till the final end of the final year agreed upon as a rookie.

I think if the NFL teams wanted to put it in writing that all signed contracts needed to completed, the NFLPA would sign that in about 3 seconds. For every player that holds out (2 this year?) there are probably 300 who get cut with years left on their deal.

So a player can't hold out but a team can cut him at any time and not have to pay him? I don't think so. You can't have one without the other, and I think guaranteed contracts would be a huge mistake.

Actually, what you propose is already the case with exisiting contracts. The player has no choice but to honor the contract - he cannot unilaterally arrange for a different contract with another team. Of course, you can't force a player to play. So a holdout is a player's legal right. On the other hand, the NFL and NFLPA recognize that holdouts are hugely disruptive to a team so the CBA provides for fine penalties and some bonus repayments as a penalty to the player as a disincentive. In fact, it appears that they are so much in agreement on this aspect of the contracts, that they agreed this year to increase the daily holdout fine from 5K to 14K. That's a pretty firm stance.
