How do you know?

hes capable and has started..has the experience and gets the picks. people say hes better suited for safety because he gambles too much and gives up on plays

I don't know enough about Warfield to really have an opinion but I must say it worries me that he's coming from KC where their defense has been abominable.

I agree/understand, but it's fair to say that one lonely CB does not a defense make. Deion Sanders couldn't save that defense as it was constituted over the last few years. Worst front-7 talent in the NFL, IMHO. Couldn't stop the run, and couldn't apply pressure to the QB.

The fact that KC's defense SUCKED worse than nearly any in living memory over the last few years doesn't mean that Warfield was part of the problem...

I think he has a good chance to start.

Heck, by the logic prevailing on some of the threads here, Warfield picked off the best QB in the NFL three times in one game. He must be a top cornerback.

Seriously, I think from a talent standpoint he's a passable #2 CB.

Let's see. He's a recovering alcoholic. He's coming off his worst year as a pro. He's coming from a defense that has sucked for the past several years. And he already has 1 league suspension for substance abuse. Add to that the fact that he supposedly has lapses in concentration and he occasionaly makes bad judgements on the field and he signed a vet minimum contract with no signing bonus. Souds like he's got his hands full just trying to crack the roster.

Comparing Warfield to Samuel is like comparing David Terrell to David Givens. Oh wait, half the people on this board thought Terrell would be starting.

That was Greg Wesley, their SS, not Warfield.

Huh. I was travelling that weekend and didn't get to see the game. I thought I heard Warfield in the recap, and never thought about it again. I've been living all this time under a false assumption.

Sarcastic comment in previous post cheerfully withdrawn.

Now if we'd gotten Wesley, then I'd be excited.

Warfield? Until he proves otherwise: meh.

These also could be a number of reasons why he will make an effort to harness his abilities here; the Pats tend to be vigilant when it comes to "problem children."

Ex. 1: Christian Peter
Ex. 2: Kenyatta Jones
...and, on the other side, Ex. 3: Corey Dillon
