Default Aaron Schobel?

Evidently he's not fully committed to retiring, but the Bills are moving on. Whata think?

I think he will be playing for the Bills this year.

What do you think he might come here in any scenario? Forget it. Schobel considered retirement because the Bills are moving to a 3-4 and he doesn't want to learn a new system. Why would he want to come here?

I think Nix is likely just rattling his cage. Tough to work with guys who pull this crap. Who's to say he hasn't mentally checked out already (which has to be Bill's secondary concern with Burgess) and it's just the remaining guaranteed money in his deal ($6.5M in 2010 salary plus the $2M roster bonus they handed him in March) that is keeping Aaron from making a decision. And somehow I doubt the forgotten men in the AFCE would choose to trade him to their division rivals just to watch him potentially regain his desire to play the game performing for a contender in their own division.

They won't cut him because they'd have to pay him and if he retires he owes them a substantial refund should they choose to persue it, and I bet Ralph would...

Just some stuff Schefter said on Twitter. I didn't kow about his issue of 43 vs 34.

Bills GM Buddy Nix today is announcing that Buffalo is moving forward with plans that do not include LB Aaron Schobel.

Maybe LB Aaron Schobel retires, maybe he is traded. But every indication is that he and Buffalo are now done with each other.

Good thoughts there. And he may be done, as you say.

Face it, Burgess wasnt a LB, either. Schobel isnt a LB. We can call him a Dend. Throw a 3rd and a 5th at the Bills, work out a reasonable deal, and bring him in. Or at least consider it if Burgess doesnt show up within another few days. At this point, Burgess is in his 2nd week of contemplating retirement. Just like the Bills are moving on from Schobel, its probably time for us to start moving on from Burgess.

Bring him in for a 3rd rounder or combo of picks. He can line up at DE in sub-packages for us. Doesn't need to be a LB

I'd sign him just to keep him away from Brady

He excites me more than Burris or Ogunleye for sure, if he gets released. I would guess that sooner or later they would release him, though if it isn't the first cut then the time would be short for him to learn a BB defense and maybe a new position.

I sure wouldn't give up a 3rd rounder for him though in a trade. He is a 1 year rental and situational sub, and may just retire. 6th rounder tops.

I think he'd be a great pick up. I'm not sure how he is much different than Burgess. If Burgess actually is a no show, then I'd be all for getting Schobel. He'd be an asset as a situational pass rusher. However I doubt it would take a 3rd to get him. A 6th might be too high for that matter, because the Bills alternative would be to release him and get nothing. Schobel is essentially a FA. HE will pick the team....if he really wants to come back. The real issue is the money it would take to get him to sign. He isn't going to come back for the Vet Minimum,. IMHO it would take $4-5MM to get a deal done.

Like PWP said, Matt Light and Tom Brady would be very happy not to have to play against him.
