Default Tom Condon's clients

Here is who this weasel is representing this year. It will be interesting to see who holds out. This is why that Patriots did not go for Jerry Hughes and they would not have taken Gresham even if he fell:

1. Sam Bradford – QB – Rams – (Creative Artists Agency – Tom Condon/Ben Dogra)
16. Derrick Morgan – DE – Titans (Creative Artists Agency – Tom Condon/Ben Dogra)
21. Jermaine Gresham – TE – Bengals (Creative Artists Agency – Tom Condon/Ben Dogra)23. Bryan Bulaga – OT – Packers (Creative Artists Agency – Tom Condon/Ben Dogra) an unsignable Beluga Whale
31. Jerry Hughes – OLB – Colts (Creative Artists Agency – Tom Condon/Ben Dogra)

Then there is Drew "Next Question" Rosenputz:
15. Jason Pierre-Paul – DE – Giants (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus)
42. Rob Gronkowski – TE – Patriots (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus) -- UH-OH!!!
65. Jerome Murphy – DB – Rams (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus) -- Will the Rams get anyone into camp?
67. Myron Lewis – DB – Buccaneers (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus)
91. Navorro Bowman – OLB – 49ers (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus)
102. Darryl Sharpton – ILB – Texans (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus)
106. Bruce Campbell – OT – Raiders (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus) Drew and Al-- what a combination
128. Jason Fox – OT – Lions (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus)
138. Walter McFadden – DB – Raiders (Rosenhaus Sports – Drew Rosenhaus)
...

Good point- while I'd imagine that signability factors into draft-day choices, I doubt that it's *the* reason why we didn't take Hughes.

The Patriots and Rosenhause have had a good relationship....I doubt Gronkowski will be a problem.

Why the problem with Rosenhaus? He and the Pats have a pretty solid business relationship. Condon is a different story.

When the get that contract cap on rookie deals they can just call it the Condon Rule. He's almost single handedly been behind the insane contract increases for top ten rookies (or QB's who even fall out of the top ten) in the last decade. And you really get the sense that his clients have to sign some sort of clause that precludes them making the often career altering decision to not report to camp in time to launch their careers on solid footing. It's as if his real mission in life is to get them paid off for college accomplishments and thereafter let the chips fall where they may, or may not.

He totally screwed Brady Quinn in the process... signed to an incentive and escalator laden 'cause he's a QB deal he could never meet the minimums of because he was so far behind the pack when he finally reported it became increasingly easier over time to not start him and depress his salary and absent significant financial investment he's now a third string JAG in Denver fighting for dear life to just hang on in the league.

Watson had to fire him to get into camp his rookie season.

In what I think was a truly unholy alliance, Condon was also Gene Upshaw's agent and advisor while he was running the NFLPA.

Rosenhaus is pretty pragmatic. He seems more intent on getting his client whatever it is the client wants.

Possibly, but not likely. More likely they didn't take Hughes because he was a poor system fit to spend a 1st on.

Mea Culpa. I checked and yes indeed that Patriots have been able to deal with him. It's just that his personality is a bit much.

I heard he get 3% which seems low but what do I know.

Possibly and of course another reason is that he was not available where they wanted to pick him. If he had slipped (and had a different agent) to 42 it might have been a tough choice between him and the mysterious Gronk.

Mysterious you ask? I cannot figure out if the Patriots will keep him in to block on most downs or open things up with some intermediate (10-20 yards) passes to him or just use him (in a drearily predictable way) on goal line or short yardage.

Ugh Fred, you are aware that NFLPA rules cap agent's commission at 3%???
There was talk several years ago of lowering that to 2%, and it already is the lowest of the 4 major (3 major and hockey) sports...
NFLPA looks at cutting agent fees.

Didn't know that; Contract talk make me ill so usually I steer clear of them unlike the mediots...most of whom gravitate to it like flies to manure because it gives them something to talk about without having to watch tape or think. And human interest stories about guys at camp who have no chance of making it; anything to avoid watching tape or paying attention to the workouts instead of the bottom of a beer mug.
