i thought he wanted to represent himself? i guess he just said that not to hurt his old agent's feelings or whatever.

"He’s the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. He goes from being a rookie that nobody is expecting anything from, to taking over with people saying he can’t do it, to winning three Super Bowls....It should already be obvious he’s the greatest quarterback to ever have played. "

That is going to hurt his feelings more by saying he was going to represent himself but he was actually lieing so I don't think that's what he was intending.
“I wanted to let fans know, this is my year,” Moss said. “I’m going to play the year, I’m not coming in to start any conflicts or be disgruntled. I don’t think I’m realistically in the future plans of the Patriots. But if the New England Patriots don’t want me in their future, (it’s a business). I understand.”
Why in the world would a player come out and make a statement like this in May, long before significant OTAs have even begun, if indeed he understands what it truly means to be a TEAM player? Coming out this early and expressing that his team has no interest in him beyond the season? What's the need to even say this? Anyone get this, or is it really as simple as Moss just showing his true colors after all these years?

You mean like Wilfork and Mankins said entering their contract year?

No. Not like those guys said. Nothing at all like they said. Nowhere even in the same ballpark. Did those guys fire their agents, make a big deal that they were now hot commodities, boo-hoo as if noone wanted them, declare how marketable they still are, and declare that for some reason, THIS will be their season? Nothing at all the same.

No, again. Not really. That's an apples to oranges comparison. The circumstances are not at all the same. Wilfork was basically screwed, as is Mankins right now. Both will basically have played out SIX year contracts for virtual peanuts, compared to what they were worth. Those two players in their combined 12 years will probably not have earned together what Moss has earned in his last 3 years in New England alone. Entirely different circumstances. If we were Mankins or Wilfork, most of us would probably feel more or less the same exact way, and many would probably speak out against it. Cant say the same about how Moss is approaching this. Not one bit.

Yeah right. If Moss named two teams he wanted to play for your head would explode. You like Vince, you don't like Moss. Just admit it, there's nothing wrong with that
Yeah, really. What he said wasn't remotely close to what Moss is saying, and Vince was on the eve of FA or a likely franchise tag situation and his last contractual season here was in the books...
With Moss it's as if he needs to get it out there ahead of his last contractual season here and say once again that he doesn't feel he will be here beyond this season and he's OK with that. As if if he says it rather than waiting for others to come to him poking him about it his future then it won't be a potentially hurt feelings situation. Like when you preemptively break up with someone you really didn't want to because you sense they may be drifting away from you. Then you can always tell your buddies you were the dumper and not the dumpee...you'll still be friends...you're a FA now...your choice...
Moss is auditioning for 2011. Hopefully that works to our advantage. I doubt his retiring here would have for lots of reasons.
