Default UFA Linebacker

Ron McKinnon (UFA-Saints) is still available. I know there was some talk when he was leaving Arizona that he would be a good pickup. I think he still is, and probably isn't commanding a ton of $$$. He's 6'/246# (to Tedy's 6'1"/247#), and cold easily be a 70-80 tackle guy for us.

Colvin-Bruschi-McKinnon-Vrable looks like a good starting line-up to me.

He's been in the league for 10 years...

We're not in good shape if we have a guy like this starting, however there's room for backups and I'm sure he could do Phifer's old job (except McKinnon is an ILB and more of a run-stopper). I wouldn't mind seeing him here for the vet. min., 1-year deal... almost anyone can do a better job than what Chad Brown did for us last season.

Phifer-like is how I see him ... If he can start for a year or two and give Claridge/Beisel/Alexander some mentoring (along with Tedy) ... Why not?

By my estimation, we need to replace 3 linebackers on the roster (Willie, Chad Brown, Chatam). I expect 1 of those 3 players to be a vet. McKinnon, if he still has anything left in the tank, would be a good pickup for 1-2 years while we develop whatever day 1 prospect we pick up in a few weeks.

well he wouldnt be a bad pickup for cheap money. would add good depth, just wouldnt want him starting. if madden is any kind of gage, hes like a 88 overall...lol

The guy's done.

Knee surgery in November. Weren't we purging the roster of old, injury-prone players?

Updated Scouts, Inc. scouting report says he's only an adequate BACKUP with dwindling speed and the inability to matchup against lead blockers. Can't cover, either.

Knee surgery, yet still tallied 78 tackles on a very poor defense.

Nick griesen to me would be a great fit for the Pats, He wants to start and he wants to play on the inside. 26 years old, and so far he has found no takers. He does not want to go back to the giants as they want him to play on the outside as they have antonio pierce at MLB now.
