Default Pick needs to be Lawson or DeAngelo

Lawson was a converted LB, so he has experience at the LB position and "condraft" compares him to Colvin. He's this years Merriman and Ware.

But I wouldnt mind taking Deangelo Williams either. Im not worried about his size at all.

Lawson is interesting as the next Colvin, that's a comparison I've made too. However, Carpenter is only 10 pounds lighter than McGinest when he was drafted and he has some Bruschi in him.

Williams ? Ugh.

i think everyone is looking at CB,LB and RB as the first pick. I wouldnt be surprised if its a DL/DE - if a good one is available . A possible replacement of seymour...not sure what you guys think of it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Day One DL but I would be surprised in round 1. We're fine for 2006. 2007 we could Franchise Seymour for a season if we had to. And Green has shown that he can start, albeit with a big dropoff from Seymour, if necessary. Marquis Hill, who knows.

I'd be fairly shocked if we took a pure DL in round 1.

21 is a good spot..so a DE could fall...I think that obviously if they do that it is a tipoff of where that is going..maybe even a 2nd or 3rd rounder if that happens..21?? Absolutely!! I'm thinking more LB here..especially if a few big names are available...

what if they fail to reach any agreement with seymour and trade him before the draft ? with the way the offseason has gone i wouldnt be overly surprised

Well that would be different. My response was based on things being basically as is on April 29.

baby if they draft a DL in 1st round they might as well wave a red flag in front of seymour's face.
IMO they will wind up drafting a 1st round player who has fallen, as opposed to someone who was thought of as a mid-first round pick. there's gonna be somebody. last year it was derrick johnson from texas, #16. in 2004 it was jonathan vilma and roethlisberger at 11 and 12. in '03 it was rex grossman 16 and (maybe) polamalu 22.
if a QB or DL falls, several previous patriot administrations would have made the pick. best available, you know.
but IMO somebody's gonna sit there at 21 who should have been top 10.

Lawson is on a very few first round mock drafts, and I'vd seen at least twenty. So, the answer to your question is Williams, unless the Patrioits go with Carpenter. He could be the run stuffer we've been hoping for....

I would be shocked and disappointed with a TE, CB (not impressed), S (unless Huff), C, QB (no way!), WR, or PK!!

Please let the pick be a LB or RB. (Maybe even a DL if a good one falls)

On Williams, we aren't going to take a shrimp of a RB who's been hurt a lot, has a lot of carries on his small body already and in the past 12 months questioned whether he wanted to play football as a career.

It's not happening, forget about it.
