Default Our RFA's

I think the next order of business for us is to resign Mankins and Faulk.

Something tells me BB is ok with the current OL. with Neal signing the OL has me quite worried. I was hoping we were not going to resign Neal and go after someone in the draft such as Johnson from Alabama, Beadles from Utah.

Here's hoping we can ink faulk, Reed (nice WR) and Mankins on Monday

thoughts?

This team has a lot of holes on both sides of the ball. no TE, lack of depth at wr, no olb, de, cb if bodden leaves.

I'm more concerned about the OL than some appear to be. Light is getting pretty old, Kaczur has been putrid at RT and seems to fit better at G, and Koppen gets blown up at the POA way too easily at times. Before Bulaga's stock rose, I wanted to see him picked at 22. Vollmer and Bulaga at tackle for the next 10 years. Kick Kaczur inside to guard, maybe try to trade Light for a 3rd or 4th. But that's unlikely now.

I wouldn't mind seeing BB go after Pouncey for C/G or Charles Brown at T. I know people really want to re-tool this defense, but if a good OL fell to us at 22, I would think you'd have to consider it extensively.

Need Mankins back, best OL on the team by far. Need Faulk back too, absolutely love the guy. Don't really want Reed.

Aye, I wouldn't seeing Pouncey drafted if BB is thinking center this year. Even though I don't think Koppen gets destroyed nearly as often at the point of attack as his haters make it out to be, I do have to admit that Pouncey would most likely be an upgrade. IMO, priority #1 right now should be retaining Faulk. The man needs to retire a Patriot and still has a lot left in the tank.

My favorite memory of Faulk from this past season was when he had everyone huddled on the sideline during the Raven fiasco and was screaming trying to be a leader, pump everyone up, and will the team to victory. I will never forget that. Him and Brady are my two favorite Patriots of all time. I agree, Faulk must retire a Patriot and can still be very effective in his role.

Yeah, he was great in that game. I'll never forget him running back out onto the field with his arm just dangling at his side until the coaching staff pulled him out of the game. We need to get a deal done with him ASAP.

Wait. The title of this thread is "Our RFAs." The Pats' RFAs are Mankins, Gostkowski, and Woods. Not sure why the opening line just includes Mankins and Faulk, who is a UFA.

I think Mankins needs to be kept here longterm, and I would think this is the best year for an extension [frontloaded]. I'll be somewhat disappointed if he just plays for the 1 year tender and we have to deal with another big UFA next year.

Agree with your post enitely. Anyone remember Reed's drop last year at Buffalo?
Stalled a potential comeback for them. But, we have bigger needs than OL. I'm concerned about how some of our OL are aging. Not whether they can play in the NFL or not. You can throw rb into that equation also. While I am very concerned that we need a starter at these 4 positions;

1A - 3-4 DE - M.Wright is best in a rotation not as a starter.
1b - OLB - Can't see A.Thomas coming back. Even if he does, don't we want
somebody to replace him in 11?
1c - WR - Didn't really have anyone to fill that 3rd wr role last year. Hope B.Tate can
do it. But, injury and lack of experience have to worry you.
1d - TE - We don't have one. Nuff said.

I draft a player at each of those positions and hope like hell they contribute. And, are ready to be counted on late in the season/playoffs.
