He did drop the ball, but he has bee running really well. Granted if he continues to drop the ball, it won't matter. Right now he is the best runner the Pats have, but is a risk because of the drops.

BTW, even though he dropped the ball, it should have been ruled a touchdown. It was a bad call by the refs that couldn't be overturned because there was no footage of when he lost control of the ball, but it was pretty evident that he crossed the goalline. But with no footage, there is no way to overturn the call.

In his defense, forward progress had stopped and it did look like he crossed the plane of the goal line. Unfortunately the officials could not see him or the ball. Tough break for Maroney. But certainly a message was sent from the coaching staff with him being benched. Thankfully with Taylor back the Pats have some more depth at RB and Morris was great today.

Morris and Taylor give us our best chance to have a running game to respect..that my opinion anyways.

Maroney is a help in keeping those guys fresh but of course most say he is the most talented back on this team so the debate continues.

We needed to get the "moronic thread after a nice win" thing out of the way, and this thread certainly does that. Great job!

The fumbles are a concern but c'mon. When he wasn't running that well earlier you didn't hear all the haters praising him for having almost just 1 fumble in his first 3 seasons. The only fumble that really hurt us was the one against the Colts. If he costs us a playoff game with a fumble then you can whine. But I think his performance from the last couple months up until today means more than a few fumbles.

I am a little concerned about the drops, but I like what I have been seeing from Maroney in the last month or so. If the refs correctly called it a TD, I don't think we would be having this discussion though.

At the worst, the play should have been blown dead because of forward progress with it being pats ball on the 2 inch line. If called correctly, it should have been a TD.

I think it would be pretty hard for anybody to be able to keep a handle on the ball for more than a couple of seconds when you're being held up by 4 or 5 guys with the rest of them pulling at your arms.
