Default The Belichick Era Progression Chart

I put together this little chart this morning, mainly for comparative reasons to find where the direction of the Belichick era will lead the team, personnel-wise, in 2006.

↑ = increase in roster status from the previous season
-- = no change in roster status from the previous season
↓ = decrease in roster status from the previous season

The number of arrows signify how many actual "roster spots" the player moved up from the previous year.

For the actual rosters, I just did an "IMO" deal, where I had around a Thanksgiving cut-off line for IRed players, but moreso common sense was used. (Matt Light wasn’t placed on the IR until mid-December, but obviously I wouldn’t list him on the roster since he only played 2 games before being injured). For players that Watson that didn't make my "cut" in their rookie seasons, I marked them as rookies for the first year they did something (2005 for Watson).

A grey shading and a % mark signifies that player was drafted by the Patriots in that year.

Italicized players, even in their 2nd, 3rd, etc. seasons, means they were drafted by the Patriots in the Belichick era.

A blue shading and a # mark signifies that player was signed as any type of free agent, including undrafted rookies, or was traded to the Patriots (Dillon).

Only players under 2006 contract are listed in the 2006 column.

My main goal here was to simply supply the info. It's your turn to draw conclusions:

Backs and Receivers:

Offensive and Defensive Lines

Linebackers, Defensive Backs, and Special Teams:

Lots of archival research there, pats1.

But you know what you're looking at. What does it tell YOU?

That we need to draft some LBs, and get some serious help at WR.

It also shows that you need to spend a couple years at OLB before you're ready to be moved to ILB.
