Default The Morning After Thread

The morning after the worst beat down in recent memory i no longer feel i have to stess over every "what if" If we did this, or if we made that. Last night proved that this team (especially the pass rush) isn't good enough to realistically compeat for a SB. We'll make it into the playoffs but any thought of being able to beat an elite team was answered last night imo.

The pass rush can't generate enough pressure to dissrupt the opponents passing game, it leaves the DB's hanging.

The O-line problems can be fixed but you can't teach someone to pass rush if they don't have the ability in the first place.

While i think we could beat anyone in the AFC i just don't see us being able to beat N.O. or Minnesota.

Agreed, we're just not a very good defensive unit against anything resembling a "real" QB. We are also not very good on the road.

Have been thinking about the game last night, and i really felt after the game got really out of control, end of the 3rd quarter or so, could this just be a rebuild year for us? I mean Brady isn't going any where and I would like to think Belichick is staying for sometime. SO with that in mind, I hope we make it into the post season and knock off as many teams as possible!! Then who knows.

First time can ever remember that I went to bed before the game was over... they played like crap on both sides of the ball. The national pundits are going to have a field day with this one.. along with the resident nay sayers... D & C, Borges, Felger and all the other resident contrarians..

This is a good day to sync my ipod, finish raking leaves, make sure the snowblower is working.. do anything except listen to EEI... or 98.5... will not watch any sports today.. need an intervention.

Two thoughts I haven't seen elsewhere: 1) some players played like they had too much fun in the Bayou; 2) I would hate to be the Miami Dolphins this Sunday.

Couldnt agree more. I quickly changed off ESPN as the game came to a close. I had no desire to listen to them smile about how badly the pats got crushed and their really bad man crush on Manning and Bree's.

Is it Sunday yet???

I completely agree with original post : Indy loss was way worst, because I had expectations. After a game like this, I too only expect a first round win and a loss on the road... therefore anything else would be gravy, like 06 (I mean moving on from SD and getting ahead early, not the comeback part).

I still think most NFL teams are beatable, but last night was not going to end well after the first INT.

I would much rather take a good old azz kicking than loseing by a couple of points and have things second guessed all week.

Not jumping off the bridge but I think three things are very clear this morning

1 - Our defense is new and we don't have a pass rush - good offenses are going to score 30+ points on this D this year

2 - To counter the above the offense has to hang with the opposition ( as did with the Colts). If TB or the O-Line has a bad day were done

3 - To improve the above we need a new OC as BoB is hopeless and we are getting found out

To be blunt NO and Indy are ahead of us right now and were in the second tier
