Do you think that this 4th and 2 move by BB might make him more legendary than he already is? I think so. I know he lost the game but we all know that Faulk pretty much got the 1st down. Thing is that is there any other coach in the league that would have the guts to do this...nope. BB is alone here - for better or for worse. But in the end of the day - I do believe that he will get a certain amount of respect and also - like we are seeing now - alot of analysts are pointing out it was the right move. No other coach would have done it except for BB as he is not afraid of the consequences. He has the guts to go for it and live by his decisions.

Come what may...I think whenever a team is going to go for it on 4th down - especially in circumstances like last night - it should be known as the "Belichek" move....

I don't know which thread to say this, so I'll say it here.

Initially last night I was upset, I imagine everyone was after "the play" didn't work. But I really admire Bill for putting himself on the line. He's the one who has to stand up and defend "his loss". He could have punted and if we lost it would have been on Butler or Meriweather or Mayo. Bill would have said the usual "we need to coach better, we need to play better" but it would be the players who everyone doubted. Today no-one is questioning Faulk. Or Brady. It's all Bill - and deservedly but he chose to put himself on the line and I can't help but admire it.

Yup - I agree 100%. Bill knew it would fall on him and he did what he felt was right for the team - not himself. If he punted and they scored - he would be regretting not going for it on 4th and 2. In retrospect, even after losing - I think it was the right call.

well said. I really admire BB for what he did too, and while I'm in the minority, I think it was a great call. He might have ignited a fire inside those defensive players to rally behind him for the scrutiny he's likely gonna face for the rest of this season/career? Since the plan backfired this decision turns out to be a cry to his defense to do their job and rise up to the occasion.

Does anyone have the "after-shock" affect of SB42 or 2006 AFCCG. This is a regular season game in a long time I have the depressing gut feeling of a playoff loss.

Anyone else have this

One of my friends who despises the Patriots and Boston fans more than anything put in his status update that last night is an example of why he can't ever bring himself to hate Belichick.

Felt this all along, BB put his butt on the line, did not blame anyone else.. the buck stops with him and he takes the heat..

He did not whine about a bad spot by the refs...

Really believe that Faulk can get two yards on a safety 90% of the time... last night was the 10%.... and even though most of us thought he got it, the refs saw it differently...
