The only thing that makes me wonder about Brace is the week that Sands was active over him. The other weeks aren't a big deal to me as he's not a ST player; as the 4th Safety Chung was likely only active because of his ST play but he was not a concern.

....There is an old football adage that states: You are never as good as it looks, or as bad as it seems. I'd like to think that the last 2 weeks have confirmed this old saying.
I couldn't agree more!

Ditto for the Vollmer over Light debate. We should be happy with the devopement without immediately jumping to the conclusion that the vet is not as good. What is really aggrevating to me are the threads that suggest we trade a player as soon as a backup performs well. Like there is a rule against have 2 good players at the same position or something.

More suprprising to me was the fact that we are SIXTH in total yards given up and 7th in passing. The ONLY black mark is the 20th in rushing D, but as we showed vs Atlanta, when they have to shut down the run...they can.
BOTTOM LINE here, the only stat that has any real meaning is the scoring one, and for a defense that was supposed to be our Achilles heel, its been pretty good thus far....and here is the GOOD NEWS.... looks to get better as the year goes along.
I had no idea our defense was doing that well statistically. I guess their failures to get off the field on some key 3rd downs that allowed sustained drives against them tainted my overall view of how they were performing. I thought this shutout was more a product of how bad Ten is, but I think our good defense was certainly as big a factor (not that I expect a shutout against top teams or anything, but they should be able to keep us in games if the offense can score).

I wonder how much of the offense's problems were confidence. I think we all thought this is how our offense was going to be this season (like 2007) and until now it has not materialized. I know Ten stinks and they were majorly depleted, but I am hopeful that this game will give the offense that much needed boost in confidence. If nothing else, Brady is hitting the deep passes again... that is a matter of accuracy, not how bad Ten stinks. I would say lack of pressure factored into that, but Ten did get some pressure despite stinking up the joint.

Just a couple of things.. Springs saw time in the 2nd half of the game.
Burgess saw the most playing time he's had since joining the Pats.
Adalius Thomas isn't going anywhere because the Pats would have to eat an ADDITIONAL 7.26 million in cap space. They only have about 5 million in cap space available.
Galloway may be traded, but I doubt it, unless the Pats get an offer for him and feel that Tate (who can start practicing this week) can be more of a contributor in the passing game.
Brian Hoyer reminded me of Matt Cassel during his rookie year.
While BJGE and Maroney looked good, the Titans weren't, exactly, great against the run coming into the game. We'll have to see how they do going forward to know if they both have taken a step forward.

A couple of arguments. With Tate, it may be more about what they think he can bring all around, which includes the return game. With Galloway, if he's not catching the ball he's not going to add much elsewhere.
And I'd have to double check, but I thought Tennessee was allowing something like 2.7 ypc and 75 rushing yards per game coming into this week. Now, conditions played a factor I'm sure, but one of the few things the Titans HAVE done well this year is stop the run.

Galloway isn't involved in the return games. At all. So it has little if any bearing. That is why I said that it would be the passing game that would be the deciding factor.

I stand corrected. I thought they were doing worse than that....
The only thing that makes me wonder about Brace is the week that Sands was active over him.
I thought about this as well BF and figured the Pats brass actually wanted to play Sands in order to see what they had to determine if he was worth keeping around.
While my hopes for Galloway didn't improve after this second benching, if ever the conditions favored quick feet and sure hands, ST's play and run-blocking, this was the week. So his troubles plus the weather kept him on the bench behind Edelman and Aiken. Let's see what happens when they're facing a team on clean dry turf, which favors the WR with long speed.
I agree with those who say that the conditions suited Maroney, as the D couldn't get footing to pursue and tackle. But I always thought of Maroney as a faster back who did best on dry turf, with his ability to accelerate away from tacklers. In the end, I think Maroney's success is most reflective of the OL pushing people out of the way (or, in Mankins case, shoving them halfway to Walpole). Kudos, though, to Maroney for taking advantage and running with power.

I guess drafting BUMS like "I never play cuz I suck" Wheatley,"see the back of my Jersey as I get burned...AGAIN" Wilhiite, and "maybe my knee will let me play by my 4th year" Tate, wasn't good enough,we've got a guy that is giving Matt Millen a run for his $ by drafting a mediocre special teams player and giving him 1st Rd. cake.
Pass rush? Uneccessary when you have 72 CBS playing.
Lbs? What for, we have no pass rush, they gonna chuck it at our lousy CBS...all 72 of them bums
