Default According to the smile on his face...

Kevin O'Connell is unaware that he may well have just played himself into the #3 spot on the QB depth chart. What a GARBAGE performance. The only good news for him is that his name isn't Matthew Slater.

That said, as long as Brady's shoulder is okay, and I sense that it is, nothing else matters all that much. (Other than our possibly CRAPPY defense.)

I agree with you PFW guys. O'Connell was way off on his short and intermediate passes. Is this guy going to get any better ? At least Cassel had an excuse that he didn't start a game in college.

I remember seeing the same thing written about Cassel last year.. I know he did not look good, but still give the kid some time...

Cassel at this point last year had four training camps under his belt.
O'Connell will most surely be given more time to develop. The point is
that lightning is not going to strike again in the same place. If Brady
is injured and out for a long period of time, don't expect the Patriots
to contend with O'Connell or Walter at quarterback. I would expect
them to finish dead last in the division with more losses than wins.
They don't have a super defense to carry them.

Cassel was struggling while running with the #1s and #2s (people may want to look back at the O-line in particular) against the opponents #1s, and he was playing as the team's #1 QB since Brady wasn't playing. O'Connell is struggling with everything and against everyone, and his mechanics are breaking down. I agree with the idea that the kid needs more time. We knew he was raw when he was drafted. However, I can't equate his situation this year with Cassel's last season.

It's not the same thing.
