Default Crable is only capable of being a third-down rusher

If Crable ever makes the game day roster, the only game time sniff he'll get will be 3rd and longs. I base this on 3 plays I saw him in action in preseason. Against the Giants...goal line stand...3 consecutive running plays....3 times blown backwards like I have never seen in the NFL. Those long skinny legs will never be effective holding his ground and creating leverage. He may be able to run around a tackle on occasion, but forget the notion of an every down player. Could he have been "assigned" to the DL just because BB realized he was wasting roster space. My conspiracy tendencies say yes. Gotta go now...black helicopter overhead watchimg me.

You're basing this on 3 measly plays from a pre-season game. Whew! Good thing BB knows what he is doing, because most of us were ready to throw Cassel on the trash heap based on his pre-season performance as well.

He has also had 1 year of NFL nutrition and workouts, lets not throw him away until we at least see him on the field.

You're making a career assessment on a player base on three plays in his rookie season ? Either You are Nostradamus or this is simply dumb.

Ok, I saw 3 plays of Crable also. 2 sacks and a fumble recovery. The HOF is getting his bust ready.

YouTube - Shawn Crable

A little bit of comfort food. Of course it doesn't really mean anything, but at least the guy isn't a complete stiff.

I watched The Crab in training camp pre-season. Big guy, fast. Pipestem legs reminding me of Chris Canty. The Crab needs to follow the off-season strength building program assiduiously and study hard. If he applies himself fully, he'll challenge for 2009 PT on the 53. If he doesn't, I think that the Redd, Woods and a draft pick will bump him.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

Now, if you want to say your concerned that a 3rd pick couldn't even make an impact on special teams I'll agree. However, lets hope the guy has been doing what he needs to do to improve.

I don't see him in competition with Woods. Right now, Woods is the starter. I think the OLB draft pick has the best chance to prove something and that's where Crable's main competition will come from. Redd will be kept only as a backup/potential grooming guy and ST player. As much as I like Redd, he's still at least a year or two away from contributing on D.
