At the risk of being banished to "The Practice Squad", would BB ever consider bringing in Herm Edwards to coach the secondary for the Pats?

According to Jay Glazer at FoxSports Herm is not looking to become a DC. Florio mentions at PFT that he may be looking for work as a DB coach. And after going 6-26 the last two years, nobody is going to offer him another HC gig - at least not until he is successful in another position. The Pats secondary was not very good last year, and if he were to help turn that around then some team might consider giving him a third chance as a HC, or at least a DC position.

We all know how bad a HC he was and his offensive play calling and clock management were pathetic. But it seems to me he was a pretty good DB coach in Tampa. However, I'm not sure if he's ever done anything other than the Tampa 2 defensive scheme as a coach; I can't recall, did he employ that when he was coach of the Jets?

Although I thought he was a terrible head coach, he would be a good secondary coach. This would be a nice addition.

What makes you think that BB would be interested in a coach whose only notable skills seems to be glad handing the press and setting franchises back five years?

I'd definitely pass on Herm Edwards. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy to inspire his players. More importantly though, "you play to the win the game" and he just didn't win games.

Nope. Number one, I can't see Herm Edwards working here under any circumstances. Number two, I could see him and BB butting heads over a few issues since BB is the God of the defense. And, finally, number three: I can't stand Herm Edwards.

I don't see the value in adding Herm to the coaching staff, consider this, Herm would have input on the defensive game plan. Now I know some of you are noted for, um, 'original' thinking, but how could any fan of football - let alone the NEP - feel any degree of comfort with the thought of Herm sitting in on a defensive coaching meeting?
