I have no inside information but a crazy random thought crossed my mind the other night while watching The College National Championship Game.As most know Bill Belichick,Bob and Myra Kraft were at the game seated in a luxury box.
Let Me pose a scenario,if and when Scott Pioli ever leaves The Patriots does anyone think that it's possible that Bill gives up the coaching reigns and steps into The General Manager role and hires Urban Meyer to coach The Patriots.Bill and Urban Meyers are close and now I'm sure that The Krafts have met Him. Thoughts ?

Hey, nothing lasts forever. I wouldn't see anything like that happening for a long time, but whenever Bill does want a break from the grind of coaching, I am sure he and Kraft will have a good transition strategy in mind.

I think all of this is pretty out there. Belichick LOVES coaching, scheming, working with players. And the later idea - that Dom Capers was brought in to eventually supplant Belichick - is similarly outlandish. No way, no how.
Does Meyer someday replace Belichick - like, way, WAY down the line? Sure, I can absolutely see that, especially if Belichick has a say in it. But right now Belichick will coach for at least another 5 years, IMO. I hope he keeps coaching after Brady retires to show people it wasn't just a great QB. (Not that he hasn't been showing that, especially this year, but you know what I mean.)
maybe not Myers, but Dom Capers i think was brought in for that very reason. Kraft and BB have already been planning ahead for when Pioli leaves.

God, I hope not.

Don't get me wrong I like Urban Meyer and all, but I just don't see him as an NFL HC. His system works well within the college game and aside from the Dolphins running similar things this season, I don't think that type of gimmickry would work long term in the pros.
Also, I'd prefer him to stay where he is since he's built things back up after those long sad years of Zook.

I have to agree. Belichick enjoys coaching. He's had some real stress filled seasons due to short off seasons, injuries and Ahole commissioners, writers and former proteges, but seeing hin work with a new QB and backups all over the place this year, it's obvious he loves coaching more than anything.
As soon he loses that, he'll move on. He doesn't seem to give himself an ulcer every 2-3 years like Parcells did.
Urban Meyer will be leaving Florida as soon as Notre Dame fires Charlie Weis.
And Meyer will stay there for a decade or more. So, Meyer is not Belichick's replacement.
Urban had a chance to be ND's coach a couple of years ago and instead decided to go to Florida. I don't see why he would change his mind now especially with the way he's further built that UF program. I think what he said last week was just the idea that ND's head coaching gig is considered the most prestige by everybody, but I don't think he really wants it. I mean, they offered it to him and he said no five years ago.
As I was reading this post, I thought it was going to go down a painful path.
Did anyone else notice that the extremely talented, HIGH SCORING Oklahoma team was losing 17-14 in the fourth quarter of the championship game. That brought back an all too familiar scenario that does not need further explanation.
