so what do you guys think the pats will do on thurs ? iam not sure the ball control run oriented offense for the past two weeks will work because jets are very good against the run. Maybe a short passing game will be more employed. RZ as usual will be critical for us especially running the ball in the RZ will be hard with jenkins and co.
The jets D has really come on and they seem to blitz the safeties quite frequently . Should be a test for cassel. Mangini has employed a lot of looks in his 2nd game against the pats last two yrs even troubling brady a bit so this could be interesting.
On D , we have to stop jones and more importantly washington. First game against the jets ,jones ran quite well except in the goal line , but our run d has gotten better since. Not sure how effective favre will be but if we can get pressure on the o line which i think is possible considering buffalo got decent pressure on him it will good. Our RZ D hasnt been great through the season but last week gave some hopes
Lastly , tackle please , especially someone like washington- this was the one of the few hard things to watch in the buffalo game how we missed so many tackles to parrish and lynch.

Offensive gameplan will be similiar to the last few weeks. I think on defense that the Pats may actually focus on stopping the run and force Favre to beat them in the air. The more that Favre throws it the more likely he will make a costly mistake.
Although the running game has been solid for most of our games this year, it is still the short passing game that always sets up everything else. Think of the first drive Sunday. Pass, pass, pass, BJGE run, pass, BJGE run, Cassel rush TD (which was a designed pass). 7 plays, 5 passes. The run is opened up by the passing game. I think early in the game, the Pats should show that they won't hesitate to throw downfield. That doesn't mean a 60 yard bomb, it just means maybe a 15 yard post to Moss, or a play like Welker's long catch on the first drive on Sunday.
Basically, they need to set up the run by showing that their passing game is effective enough that the Jets will need to play some man defense. Once that happens, they will use the run.
And the Jets run D is good, but the Pats did total over 100 (including great clock killing work in the 4th quarter) and that was with absolutely no threat of a passing game, given that it was Cassel's first start. Long story short, I think the Pats will stay with what has worked the last two weeks: short/intermediate passes with runs mixed in, then run more when the D is in man/when they get tired.

We'll need to go deep right away because if we don't our run game is gonna be tough. Screens could open those up too, I suppose. As long as we can manage Jenkins, we'll ok, I think.

I was going to post about the weather too. I think a field position game played patiently plays well into the hands of the Pats. Favre will likely get restless and begin forcing things.

you might be interested to know the forecast is for it to be very cold, with rain.
that will make the in stadium experience interesting.....!
it will also dictate a lot of running, short passes and punting. recall last years home jets game. BB tried to make the other team make the mistakes.
i dont know who it favors more. favre has exp playing in cold weather .cassel hasnt. they have a better RB starter than us unless morris starts. for some strange reason ,last 2 regular seasons when the jets have come to foxboro it has rained and we have played on a muddy field. Will come down to punting and the return game.

this is my biggest fear is that koppen will get run over by jenkins. I think a guard needs to help him and use jenkins aggressiveness against him.

Offense:
Rule 1 "Protect the Cassel" gotta give enough time against the up the middle bullrush and blitz to progress the reads
Rule 2 Continue the effective ground game. Takes pressure off the passing game, helping Rule 1.
3. Play action passes. This rarity was seen last Sunday and it was effective. Helped by rule 2.
4. Given Rule 1, don't hesitate to call the 20 yd pass play. Cassel has the arm.
5. Don't hesitate to throw it into the EZ. Cassel has shown he's not careless with the rock
Defense:
1. Contain the Jets run game because we WANT them to pass
2. Prevent the 40+ yard big gainers; make them run play after play to gain yards
3. Pressure The Hero just enough to rush his decisions and passes; sacks aren't necessary if rushed throws create picks
4. Take advantage of any TOs and convert to scores
STs:
1. Allow no big plays by the Jets
2. Create good field position
