Default Indy Run D

i heard on of the announcers last week state that indy's run D is weak, and they are just getting a steady diet of ground game from their opponents every week. they havent shown they can stop it....

is this true?

if so, doesnt that imply that we really need Morris or Jordan to get well next week?

do you think if someone was close to ready to go, BB would have still held them out of the Rams game, to make sure they were extra rested and ready for Indy?

Just watch tonights game and formulate your own opinion. A weak run D implies you don't need your best RB

They're allowing 4.4 YPC which isn't THAT bad but, as you said, they can't stop people on the ground with Sanders out so they're being run on and giving up huge yardage totals. Unfortanately we may not have the backs to take advantage of it, while the Colts game is important we have Buffalo, Jets, Miami, Pittsburgh the following four weeks so I doubt we'll rush Sammy and LaMont.

Their run defense has been bad this year even with Sanders. Their DT are a mess this year too.

Indy has been getting run over and may get shellacked tonight but Sanders is rumored to be pointing towards ready for week 9 (though Dungy could be fibbing...). As for Morris and Jordan, no - I think they're both likely still a week or more away. Jordan should have been back this week but he reportedly literally suffered some sort of setback during the freakin' walkthrough on Wednesday so I'm not expecting to see either this week although I'd love to be pleasantly surprised. This isn't a critical division our game either with the Colts struggling to keep their own heads above water this season so... If anything I would expect Bill might be inclined to hold these guys back for our remaining 4 division games and the Steelers - the big picture view of the season.

I disagree about either rushing or holding back.
If they are ready they will play, if not they wont.
Have we not figured out yet that BB treats all opponenents equally, and does not give players time off because he knows we will beat bad teams?????????????????
That is why we rarely lose to bad teams, BB treats them all the same.

Actually, it doesn't. Sanders was in when the Matt Forte and Adrian Peterson ran all over the Colts. In fact, their best run defense this year was a game when Bob Sanders was out.

The stat is a bit misleading. They gave up two 100 plus yard rushers to Jacksonville, 160 yards to Adrian Peterson who got injured that stopped him from going over 200 yards, and 123 yards to Matt Forte; but they did stop the Ravens and the Packers had a low YPC because they had such a lead that they run most of the second half with the Colts putting 8 or 9 in the box.

According to the guys on WBCN after the game yesterday, their moles told them that Morris will most likely play next week and he was this close to coming back this week.

I think that Indy is going to do what the Rams did, put 8 in the box and make Cassel beat them. Indy's D is made to play from a lead, they get in trouble when their offense doesn't score and they get behind and the other team can ound the ball.
