Default 2009 Offense

This unit is also almost all set for another year, presuming that we re-sign Evans. Our needs are BPA, although we could use a TE, RT and a WR.

RB Morris, Maroney, Faulk, Green-Ellis
FB Evans (fa)
WR Moss, Welker, Washington, Aiken, Ventrone, Slater
TE Watson, Thomas

Why are you talking about next year already?

A healthy Brady and that's a frightening offense for all the 31 other teams.

Get a possible TE in the draft for some depth or FA - and a possible early round upgrade on the o-line.

Thanks for these threads, they're a nice respite from the Brady-infection worrying and other stuff right now.

I generally agree, but have a few areas of concern for the offense heading into next season.

I'd really want to re-sign Gaffney, Washington hasn't shown [or had the opportunity to show] us much yet at WR. I'd also want to draft or sign a WR to compete with Gaffney for the #3 spot and provide a different skill set, basically what we wanted Chad Jackson to do.

I'd also give Jordan the edge over Green-Ellis, as Jordan provides a running style different from anyone else on the roster.

I see the need for a long term investment at RG in the draft, and an upgrade over Kaczur at RT, and the general investment in a tackle via the draft. I find Yates & Connolly expendable, and I'd prefer to keep Hochstein around for his versatility.

Is he an RFA?? Just curious... Green-Ellis..Gutuerrez..LeVoir aren't the alsoFA of some kind?? Ross?? Not to be nit picky...Also, I would resign Hochstein..as he's a solid inside backup.

Not sure about LeVoir, but Green-Ellis and Gutierrez are ERFAs (Exclusive Rights FAs), b/c they have less than three full NFL seasons under their belts. That basically means as long as the Pats offer them at least the minimum for a player with that level of experience, their choices are sign or retire.

I agree with all your comments. I would be fine if we re-sign Gaffney and Jordan, and I so prefer Hochstein over Yates or Connolly. I only included signed players and ERFA's.

I do like Washington. If we re-sign Gaffney, I doubt that we'll see a WR draftee. Also, Levoir and Connolly could be future starters, or future backups. We shall see.

It is great to able to look at upgrades on the offense instead of filling holes.

I think, for the first time, almost all posters here would celebrate a first round or second round pick of an offensive lineman (RG or RT).

My dream draft is the first three rounds is RT, RG, TE and S. I like our starters and depth everywhere else.

Yup, I could see that, I think that'd be ideal. IMO, I can still see us drafting a WR though if we retrain Gaffney and Washington - again, basically to fill the role Chad Jackson was intended to, if we had to drop Ventrone to do it, I'd probably reluctantly do so.

I would bump up guard as a need, but overall pretty good unit assuming Brady comes back somewhere near his old self.
