Default Strength of schedule

To date, Pats' opponents are 2-4-0 in terms of having Winning Record/Losing Record/.500 Record, EXCLUDING their Pats game.

By the same metric, the Pats' next ten opponents (double-counting the Bills) are 5-4-1.

The 5 are Bills, Bills, Jets, Pitt, Arizona
The 1 is Indy
The 4 are Miami, Oakland, Rams, Seattle

Insert your own comments here about whether a ranking that puts both the Jets and Cardinals ahead of Indy is meaningful or not ...

Default Re: Strength of schedule

Usually strength of schedule or "SoS" is done by tallying the Win/Loss record of opponents, not by generalizing on "winning" or "losing" records.

By generalizing, you lose some specifics about the data. Specifically, an undefeated team has as much weight as a 1-loss-below-.500 team. By your metric, if the Pats next two opponents where 7-0 then 3-4 that would be the indistinguishable from a 4-3 team and an 0-7 team, which it should not be the case.

Also, I think it's valid that Indy is below other teams. Despite their recent success, this year is shaping up to be a poor year for them.
