Default Which would be worse?

Team 1
5-0 record. Killing every team, QB on the way to setting alltime records, many pundits truly speaking as if you are the best team ever, and can legitmately go undefeated. Just killed the second best team in the league.

Team 2
3-2 record. 2 horrendous defensive games giving up boatloads of points. A QB that just doesnt seem to get it, and although the coach and team seem to believe in the young QB who hasn't proven anything yet (other than being there a few years and earning the coaches confidence) it just looks like the team is going nowhere with this QB. Sitting 1 1/2 games behind the upstart division leader.

Team 1 is obvious, Choice 2 not so obvious.
Team 1 is the 2007 Patriots.
Team 2 is BOTH the 2008 Patriots and 2007 Giants.

In 2007 it would have turned out better to be team 2.

Anyone else think those fans that want to write off the season are jumping the gun a bit?

And, by the way, the 2003 Pats were 3-2 and IIRC had just let up a ton of points to the Titans and only got the offense going by giving the ball to Mike Cloud. (I'm right about the game, not sure about it being week 5) and the 2001 Pats were 2-3, having lost to the Bengals, having gotten destroyed by the Fins, and having scored a whopping 3 points against the Jets. (and given up 56 points in the last 2 games)

Oh yeah, the 2005 Steelers were also 3-2 having lost 2 of their last 3.

Wow, what are the chances we could ever overcome this hole we are in?

Andy, how many times do we need to tell you?

Stop. Being. Sensible.

It has no place here. Your wacky, insane devotion to reason and the facts is not welcome. Your realistic comparisons, factual representations, and down to earthiness (yeah, made that up ) are just out of bounds. Period.

Oh, and, thanks for the post, made me feel much better inside, though I'm still hoping to see the line block better tonight, and the D get a little more on top of the game we know they can play.

Interesting point but....

no one can say that MC has even 1/100th the potential of either Eli Manning last year or Roethlisberger
there was reason for hope in those situations both Eli and Ben showed flashes of brilliance...MC not so much.

Sorry to stray from the reactionary, unthinking stuff this board has built such a storied reputation with.
All of those things need to be addressed. Just as many things needed to be addressed by us in 2001, and 2003, the Giants last year, and the Steelers in 05 at this point in the season.
That surely doesnt mean they WILL work out, but it surely DOES MEAN THEY STILL HAVE TIME TO.

I disagree. Eli may have had more 'potential' whatever that means, but up to that point had actually shown more reason to doubt than believe.
The chances of Eli doing a 180 in his 3rd year after sucking the first 2 (and by the way he didnt do a 180, they won in spite of him mostly) is worse than the chance of Casselimproving from his 5th career game to his 6th, 12th, 16th, etc.

Here is another problem, what has a top round seed done the last 3 years ?
Steelers
Colts
Giants
None had a bye & and 2 of them beat powerhouse teams.
I think we gave the Colts a gift the same way the Jags gave us a gift when they upset Denver.

Weird, huh?
We are so worried about how far behind last year we are, and we are basically right where the team that surpassed us last year was at this time.

Ok, you must have missed the couple of games where commentators and NFLN heads later said Cassel showed similar poise to Brady "at times" and hit some pretty amazing passes (the short ones, even if in tight coverage, always go unnoticed).

He's got as much potential as those guys, he's just going to need more time to show it thanks to his bench shaped butt. Have faith. Be patient. Start enjoying football for the exciting moments.

You're right.

He does not have 1/100th of the potential to be the league's INT leader as Manning was last year.
