Default Red Zone...

When the Patriots are playing defense in the redzone they have allowed the other team to score a touchdown 6 out of 9 times. That puts them in 29th place in a 32 team league.

When the Patriots are playing Offense in the redzone they have scored a touchdown in 4 of 11 opportunities. That puts them in 27th place in a 32 team league.

On a side note the Patriots sit in 31st place in a 32 team league on getting off the field on third down. Stopping the offense less that 50% of the time on 3rd downs.

Is this a good team? It does not rank very well right now in any catagory.

Given the shocking loss of the franchise QB in the very first game, I am not surprised to see our current #s in the bottom of the league. But, that is understandable for the offense.

Our defense however is making me wonder, especially when considering another stat in Reiss' piece which I believe mentioned that opponents convert nearly 60% of their third downs! Our defense ranks pretty low in the league tables in that stat too.

Three games is too small of a sample size to make any judgements. They had a very bad game against Miami. One bad game does not turn them into the Rams.

I like running the ball inside the 20 in our current state on offense. The Patriots are deeper than I can ever remember at the position.

Lets throw the ball downfield to Moss. Maybe he makes a great catch or maybe the Patriots gain 50 yards on PI. He is on the team, lets use him.

On defense we need to attack. This front 7 must knock the QB into next week.Sitting back on defense and letting the Ronnie Brown's of the world come to us is not working.

The Patriots can go into the Charger game at 3 - 1 on the season.

I think they will.

It seems from reading the posts so far that getting Moss more involved in the red zone will be a great help.

So as you said, I think they will be fine and produce a great game next Sunday.

So we shall see.

I don't think that our red zones stats were great last year either. Other than filling obvious personnel holes at CB and ILB, our two greatest needs for improvement this year were special teams play, red zone defense, and red zone offense.

It's early, but it seems that special teams play is much improved, even with Washington and Alexander not playing.

I believe that red zone offense is a matter of coaching. The jets demonstrate that for us. Their coaching was aweful! Josh needs to do better; we certainly have the players. I believe that Jordan should help.

I have no answer to the issue of red zone defense. In the end, I think it is all about sucking it up and playing better than the other guy. Again, we could use some depth at ILB and SS, but we the players to succeed in the red zone.

The internet a not a great place to try and have a conversation.

Comparing the Rams and the Patriots would be silly.

At least I find it silly.

Last year this team was proud of its red zone defense.

Its time for this defense to step up.

I could understand last weeks performance if the Patriots defense sucked.

They do not suck, they are twice as good as the Miami offense
