We all need to keep a close eye on Moss. Cassel only looked Moss's way three times on Sunday. Two catches for 22 yards and the underthrown long ball that would have been an easy touchdown. Early in the game, Moss was high-fiving his QB and being good teammate Randy. For a big part of the second half, Moss sat alone at the end of the bench and his body language changed dramatically. He seemed a lot less interested in the game when he realized Cassel wasn't going to find him downfield.

To be fair, Moss had only glowing things to say about Cassel after the game. Moss is such an emotional player, the Pats coaching staff may have to try a little harder to keep him mentally involved, if they continue to play so conservatively on offense.

I think his frustration is reasonable, but he must be aware of the gameplan. They need to keep trying to find each other and between a technically easy game Sunday and week off of games I think they'll either make or break that connection. Don't look for it to develop after week eight, I don't think we can wait that long to rescue Emo-Randy.

They did a good job of shutting him down, you can pull the Podcast from WEEI and listen to Bill himself talk about how they basically took Randy out of the game.

He'll be fine, however we need to throw to him 3-4 times a game on a deep/20+ yard route - Just to keep the rest of the league aware of the threat that he brings to each game. Of course, that's all IMHO.

I think it was a frustrating day for him as far as receiving numbers go, but he had those with Brady last year too (AFC Divisional game and AFCC).

He knows Cassel CAN get him the ball, he did it in game one. I expect Moss to have a big day against the Miami secondary, because even when they've got you covered they really don't do anything to stop you. If he has another 2 catch, 20 yard day... then I might start to get concerned.

We all need to stop making DUMB threads...this is just anothersee me I am dum thread that has been filling up the board the past weeks...Look at cassel..Look at Moss...Brady is out..the sky is falling...seriously...yes, Moss had to be frustrated..but you can't throw him the ball when he is smothered..I THINK he knows that..Look another player is picking his nose..let's start a thread!!!! Good grief!!!

I don't think this is true. My understanding is that Moss was doubled most of the game. Just because Cassel didn't throw to him doesn't mean he didn't look Moss's way.

The beauty of Moss/Welker is that if the coverage rolls deep you have the under, and if the coverage plays close you have the deep routes.

Brady has the experience and abiity to throw into double coverage. Cassel is not there yet. But remember, Brady wasn't there in early 2001, either. Give it more than one game in a hostile environment where audibles are near impossible.

It is also nuts to think we will have the same game plan for all teams every week.

When Moss first came here, here was asked about being a decoy, and said that was part of his job.

I think his appearance is very understandable. He misses Brady. They had a rappport and they were friends. Their lockers were side by side. It would be astounding if he were not sad and bummed. That doesn't mean he will rond off routes, quit on plays etc.

As Cassel gains experience, the game plan will change. Moss is no dummy. He knows that.

But everyone needs to know that the 2007 Patriots no longer exist. For one year, we were the Colts, piling up yards and records and forgetting that defense wins championships. Don't look for a repeat of the kind of games we saw last year. We're back to the Kardiac Kids.
