Light, Woody in Philly
The Patriots reported via their Twitter channel this morning that offensive lineman Matt Light and former New England center Damien Woody are among players at a Philly Sports Authority today as part of the field reporting portion of Broadcast Boot Camp.
Light was part of a Broadcast Boot camp yesterday and also appeared on Serius radio yesterday afternoon.
Manning Over Brady For All Decade Team?
Former Boston Globe columnist and one of my favorite guys Michael Smith puts Peyton Manning over Tom Brady for the “All Decade” team for quarterbacks.
No offense Michael…but I think you’re out of your mind. Three Super Bowl rings, an undefeated regular season, and breaking Manning’s touchdown record should say enough to end this discussion.
Smerlas and DeOssie Say Eating Chocolate Helps Weight Loss
According to former Patriots Steve DeOssie and Fred Smerlas, apparently you can eat chocolate and lose weight.
The former players told the Boston Herald that they are convinced it works, and have launched their latest venture – selling bite-size chocolates that promise to trim your waistline at their site www.fredandsteveschocolate.com.
“I don’t have a scale, but I can tell by my clothes that I’ve lost weight,” DeOssie told the newspaper. “I’ve been up and down in my weight for years, but this chocolate seems to be working.”
At their website you can purchase “Tru Chocolate”, which according to the site is an “organic, sugarless chocolate sweetened with natural sweeteners and a proprietary herbal formula that boosts the health benefits of simple cocoa.”
The secret? Eat one wafer with 8 ounces of water before meals. They claim that if the plan is followed, dieters can lose a pound a day.
It’s not inexpensive. A bag, which contains just 15 individually wrapped chocolate pieces, costs $21.50 and requires an enrollment fee of $10.
Smerlas also claims that it’s worked for him.
“It definitely helped eliminate cravings,” Smerlas told the Herald. “I weighed 320 pounds when I started the Atkins (diet) a while ago and it brought me to 280, but I gained back 10 pounds and the Tru Chocolate brought me back down to 280.
Pats Week In Review Added, New Twitter Channel, and Other Info
This week’s edition of Patriots Week In Review is now available, with updates from this week’s player visits along with information on the current battle between Comcast and the NFL Network which so far is leaning toward Comcast being the victor. Should be interesting to see how this one plays out, and we’ll continue to follow it.
In another development, many of you have likely heard of Twitter. If you haven’t, it’s a social media platform that has become quite popular and allows you to stay in touch with friends and reach an audience with a similar interest. I haven’t really used Twitter up until recently (although I did sign up for it quite a while ago), and it’s pretty interesting. You can follow celebrities, which after doing some research there are actually a few of them on Twitter who can provide some interesting comments and commentary (a full list is available at: CelebrityTweet.com).You may also be alerted to some things you may have missed, such as some funny television appearances, etc.
So if Twitter is something that you’ve heard of and want to learn more about, hopefully this is enough to get you started. You can also follow this site on Twitter at this channel http://www.twitter.com/patsfans. Another recommendation is Mrs. B, who is known for her training camp reports and podcasts. Her channel can be found here: http://www.twitter.com/mrsb.

U2 Alters Scheduling for 8 teams
An interesting mention by the NFL Network Tuesday night. There are 724 Trillion Possible NFL Schedules, and if the challenge for the schedulemakers wasn’t enough, they had to deal with another issue not related to sports.
For fans of U2, eight games had to be altered to accomodate the band’s 360-degree tour. The tour altered the schedule in Arizona, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New England, Tampa and Washington, with the NFL having to move their games as the band’s tour had been scheduled prior to the dates being decided on by the league.
U2 is currently scheduled to play at Gillette Stadium on September 20th and 21st.
