Ian, what I read from your statistics on Welker is SHORT, SHORT, SHORT. 148 targets, 109 receptions and 5 TD's all in the SHORT area of field. That was strength AND PROBLEM with Patriots offense last year. Re-watch games and you see teams committing 10 or even 11 players within 10 yeards of LOS. Welker was clearly made a comparable offer and he was the one who Brady should be upset with because he chose a couple million more (or even possibly less depending on incentives) to go elsewhere.

I'd bet Welker wishes he could have past 48 hours to do over again. He played chicken with Pats and now he'll be trying to catch ducks from Manning (IF Manning can stay healthy). I predict Welker's going to spend an extra couple million on medical bills as a result.

Woul have liked to see him stay but not for more than what Pats reportedly offered.
