The next time the Patriots are up 31-3 and keep pouring it on, San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York sent a message last night to let people understand a little more as to why it’s done.
New England hasn’t been on the other side of giving up 28 point leads recently but obviously the 49ers were last night after Brady lead the Patriots back and erased their lead, knotting things up in the fourth quarter in what was nearly a dramatic come from behind win.
In the end York pointed to Sunday night as the reason why teams need to play sixty minutes
“Big props to #12. That’s why we play 60 min,” Tweeted York after the game. “If anyone complains about a team running up the score, remember tonight.”
It was an unbelievable game after the Patriots spotted San Francisco a 28 point 3rd quarter lead, largely thanks to turnovers and some big plays given up. However, as the game wore New England began to settle down and started chipping away until they were eventually tied it at 31-31 with just under 7-minutes to go in the game.
Unfortunately they weren’t able to pull it off but it was definitely a game to remember and Brady at least helped give his teammates enough reason to believe that they’re never out of a game, no matter how far behind they may be.
York knows they were fortunate that they didn’t let it get away, and he also thanked the 49ers fans while apologizing if they were left without any fingernails by the end of last night’s win in Foxboro.
