Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi will be taking part in an event that's for a great cause this Thursday. The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts (SBLI) and Bruschi will be teaming up for a youth mini-camp Thursday, with fifty-four children ages 7 –14 who will get the experience of being a member of the New England Patriots.
According to the press release issued by the team, their experience will include: getting changed in the locker room, getting the game plan from Bruschi himself in the locker room, an introduction onto the field over a PA system - the kids will run down the tunnel and through the giant Patriots helmet onto the field; they will then all participate in on-field stretching and drills with Tedy Bruschi and several 'Special Guest Coaches'. One person scheduled to be at the event is inspirational BC Linebacker and Cancer Survivor Mark Herzlich.
The lucky participants were apparently chosen via an essay contest in partnership with Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and the Boston Public Schools. The children were asked to talk about their game plan for being healthy and doing their best in school. The other spots were offered to several not for profits. Among them are Camp Harbor View, Suffolk Construction’s Red & Blue Foundation, YMCA – Boston, Hyannis Youth Recreation Center, Falmouth Recreation Center, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Woburn & Lawrence, The Laboure Center and South Boston Neighborhood House, among others.
The event will take place Thursday from 2:00-4:30pm at Gillette Stadium.
