Seau Back In the Fold
The Patriots re-signed Junior Seau on Friday, which helped bring in another body to join a linebacker group that has been decimated by injuries this season. They also re-signed Rooselvelt Colvin on Wednesday, adding a bit more depth to their roster which finally saw Adalius Thomas placed on injured reserve on Friday. The team had been hoping he’d return from a broken bone in his arm that he suffered back on November 9th against the Buffalo Bills, but apparently it was severe enough for them to have to make the decision.
The team is definitely in tough shape. Teammates Pierre Woods, Tedy Bruschi and Vince Redd are all banged up. With all that stacked against them it appears that head coach Bill Belichick was apparently able to convince Seau to come back for another year with the team heading into the final stretch run of the season.
“I think Junior is good for your football team at any time of year — September, November, January, February, July,” Belichick told the Boston Globe. “He’s just good for your football team, period. He’s a good player. He’s a good person. He loves the game, and I think that enthusiasm and passion carries over to everybody who is around him — players, coaches, other people in the organization. He’s a special guy, and a special player. He brings a lot.”
