The reality is the Krafts don't like to fork over bonus money because thats what it takes to sign above average to top free agents. They are living off of a 6th round pick that became a franchise and maybe the #1 qb in the league. Their day is coming you can bet on it, when Brady is gone and if they are lucky they are a 500 team. lets see then when the ticket waiting list will be!

Free Agency has been open for about 1/2 a day, and we're already seeing these types of articles. Sheesh! Happens every year, yet, the Patriots have been doing things "the Patriots way" for a very long time, and winning with their approach. Heck, the two times they tried to make a huge free agent splash, they failed. Be patient. There are months to go until training camp.

This is Dan Snyder logic.

The Patriots are not "a few players away from a team that can win a Super Bowl," they are "being able once again to execute big plays on the biggest stage" away from winning a Super Bowl.

They didn't fail to win the Super Bowl this year because they couldn't stretch the field or rush the passer. They failed to win the Super Bowl because they didn't make plays when they were there to be made and had to be made.

Manningham makes a tough catch, Welker and Hernandez don't (and Hernandez' wasn't even tough).

The Giants take advantage of every inch of opportunity, the Pats can't fall on one of three fumbles.

The Pats Defense gave up 19 points, including only four FG's after the start of the first quarter; they could rush the Passer aggressively until the cows come home and not hope to do better than that.

I guess I disagree with your perspective. They already have the pieces; they didn't get the job done with them.

Sure, we all want them to get better in the Draft and via FA, but I don't think it's necessary to panic about their getting over a "hurdle" that they've already cleared.
