Graham,

Thanks for your feedback on your experiences. The design of Gillette I agree with you is a factor.

However, I am just hoping that fans will take it to the next level this season. Pats fans I think are the best in the league. I just would like to hear them throughout the game.

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I love Ukpatriots.com and I am proud to be a member of the site.

Russell; I've seen the Pats on the road 5 times in the last 5 years (Arizona, Carolina, Baltimore, Indianapolis and London), and 4 times at Gillette (Saints, Bears, Broncos and Falcons), and with the exception of London - which was a weird "neutral" stadium, not designed for football - the road experience has always been better. And part of the problem for Gillette is exactly the problem of the London game. It's not designed for football. It's a soccer stadium - the seats on the sides are too far from the field. On top of that, it's open at one end. As great a facility as it is, fans will never make themselves heard in the way they do at a field where the fans are close on all 4 sides.
In Europe, soccer fans can overcome this by singing chants together - the whole being greater than the the sum of the parts. But in the absence of anything more inspiring than "Let's Go Pats", that community singing just isn't part of the NFL tradition. I still think there's no excuse for leaving a game - even a close game - at the start of the 4th Quarter. I don't care how bad the traffic is. If you've bought a ticket, you have bought into being part of Patriot Nation. Your responsibility - to the team, and to your fellow fans - is to stay there making noise until time runs out.

I live in Orlando, Florida, so I don't get to go to too many games. With that said, I have attended a Playoff game the last 5 years that the Patriots have played one at Gillette (I have a friend who lives in Florida, that has Season tickets). I usually get pretty into it, standing and yelling, and come away barely able to talk. However, I sometimes have felt that I'm disrupting the people behind me, whose view I might be blocking (they stay seated). The Patriot organization needs to encourage their fans to yell, scream, stamp their feet, whatever, when the other team has the ball!

Instead of officials telling you to stand down.. maybe there should be people who help encite the crowd when the oposing offense is up.. I go to my sons H.S. game every week and there is always someone walking up and down the stands waving their arms trying to get the crowd up for those special moments.. 3rd down.. red zone.. ect. I agree with Tom.. but there might also be the factor that we are usually winning at home so fans might be complacent??
