Julian Edelman was sensational last night. With 90 yards, he was all over the place. Tom Brady had a great few drives and Randy Moss was involved some plays. Zoltan Mesko had an average of 43.4 per punt, which is already better than Chris Hanson, and Hoyer looked like a capable backup. So overall, it was a good game for a preseason game.

What I liked:

  • Julian Edelman gets better with every game.
  • The defense got to Drew Brees
  • The offensive line held up without Mankins
  • The Patriots were great in the red zone

Highlights:

  • Green-Ellis ran in for a 6 yard touchdown
  • Marques Murrell sacked Drew Brees
  • Edelman returned a punt for 40 yards to the Saint’s 19
  • Devin McCourty returns a kickoff for 52 yards
  • Eric Alexander intercepted Daniels

A Look at the Rookies:

  • Ben Tate caught a pass for 20 yards
  • Devin McCourty returned a kickoff for 52 yards
  • Brandon Spikes had 8 total tacks and 3 solo ones

Stats:

Passing:

  • Tom Brady – 5/8   67 yards
  • Brian Hoyer – 8/13   106 yards
  • Zac Robson – 3/8   47 yards

Running:

  • Chris Taylor – 8 carries for 29 yards
  • BenJarvus Green-Ellis – 11 carries for 34 yards, 1 touchdown
  • Lawrence Maroney – 8 carries for 30 yards, 2 touchdowns
  • Thomas Clayton -  4 carries for 13 yards

Receiving:

  • Julian Edelman – 6 catches for 90 yards
  • Randy Moss – 2 catches for 30 yards

A lasting question:

  • Where the Patriots shopping Green-Ellis?
