Another exciting NFL off-season has begun as teams around the league look to make changes to their rosters for next year. Contract decisions, franchise tags, the draft and free agency will continue to keep league personnel busy for the next few months. Here are key NFL dates to keep in mind moving forward:
- Feb. 20-26, 2013: NFL Scouting Combine, Indianapolis
- March 4, 2013: Franchise Tag Deadline
- March 12, 2013: Free agency starts
- April 25-27, 2013: NFL draft
Quick Combine Thoughts:
The NFL Scouting Combine will bring this year's draft class more into focus. The players will go through a series of on-the-field drills that will be monitored by league personnel. The first group of players are set to arrive Feb. 20, and workout from Feb. 23-26. All group workouts will begin at 9 a.m. eastern during those dates.
Above and beyond the on-the-field drills, all players will go through: medical exams, orientation, team interviews, measurements, media interviews, psych testing and a NFLPA meeting.
Overall, the process should give league personnel and analysts a better idea of where a player may be selected as well as clear up any questions surrounding any player.
