The Patriots made their first pick on Saturday, taking linebacker Jerod Mayo out of Tennessee with the 10th overall selection.
The 6'1 222-pound standout had an outstanding 2007 season, amassing 140 tackles (79 solo) with 1.5 sacks and 8.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage. Mayo also had five pressures with a forced fumble, along with his first interception which he returned for a touchdown.
New England had traded out of the 7th overall selection, trading away that pick along with a fifth round pick (164th overall) to the New Orleans Saints to move down to the 10th overall selection, aquiring that pick and a third round selection (78th overall).
We'll have more on Mayo as it becomes available.
