FOXBORO, MA -- The Patriots made their final roster cuts on Sunday, trimming down to the 53-man roster limit mandated by the NFL by cutting 12 players while placing two others on the physically unable to perform list.

Among those released were OT David Pruce, DL Buck Rasmussen, LB Eric Alexander, LB Justin Kurpeikis, FB Malafou Mckenzie, RB Kory Chapman, DB Je'Rod Cherry, CB Terrell Buckley, CB Christian Morton, WR Ricky Bryant, WR Chas Gessner and WR Michael Jennings. The two players placed on the PUP were CB Cedric Cobbs and LB Matt Chatham

Belichick had told the media earlier in the day that making the final cuts are never easy, but the most important thing he feels is simply to be honest with the players that will now be looking for work.

"I think the main thing is to try to be honest and up front with a player and tell him not what he wants to hear, me going in there saying, 'Well, I really wanted to keep you, but [Scott] Pioli wanted to get rid of you so that's why we're cutting you'," said Belichick. "We're not big on that. We just try to be honest and up front with the guy and let him know what really the situation is here, for better or worse, even though that might not be what they want to hear."

Most of the players released have 24-hours to go through the waiver process. At that point if they're still available, they can then be added to the team's 8-man practice squad starting Monday night.
